Remember "Hey There Delilah"?xxx parody movies That Plain White T's song from 2006 that is probably already stuck in your head again?
It's being turned into a TV show.
SEE ALSO: The one song TV shows always use to make us cryThat TV show, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is a collaboration between members of Plain White T's, Lively McCabe Entertainment, and Primary Wave, with Plain White T's frontman Tom Higgenson pegged as a producer. The project is still in very early stages of development and hasn't found a home yet, but it's hard to believe that any network would pass up the opportunity to host a show based on a song that was popular 12 years ago.
Right?
In case you need a refresher, here's how the song goes:
It tells the tale of a forlorn songwriter who is in a long-distance flirty romance with a college student named Delilah who lives in New York City and undoubtedly looks very pretty. The songwriter tells Delilah he'll write a song about her that will make him famous and then he'll be rich.
The TV show would expand on that story, undoubtedly digging deeper into the two characters' lives and giving the world some resolution on what happened to the two long-distance lovebirds.
People talk about how movies and TV shows these days are never original, that they always have to be based on something that's already established. You could look at this news as an extension of that trend.
Or you could look at this as the bold, trail-blazing move that it is. Has the world ever created an entire TV show based around a single love song? And one that's already a decade past its prime?
That takes guts.
