Bad news,Michael Maien Amazon Echo owners: In a weird case of life imitating art, Alexa appears to have actually lost her voice.
A widespread issue appears to be affecting Alexa's ability to communicate with Echo speakers.

The source of the issue is unclear, but it seems to be widespread, wth ongoing issues in much of the U.S, according to the downdetetcor.com, a website that measures outages.
An Amazon spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
The scenario is weirdly similar to Amazon's recent Super Bowl commercial. The spot, which featured CEO Jeff Bezos, imagined a scenario where celebrities attempted to replace Alexa (and failed miserably).
Naturally, the irony didn't escape frustrated Echo owners.

UPDATE: March 2, 2018, 2:47 p.m. EST: Alexa services appear to be coming back online across the country. The website downdetector.com is reporting significantly fewer issues. Mashable has still not received comment from Amazon, and we'll update this post when we hear back.
