In the grand tradition of post-Screamhorror988 Archives Dexter is back for one last scare.
On Wednesday, Showtime announced the official revival of the Michael C. Hall-led serial killer drama as a ten-episode limited series — tentatively scheduled to arrive in fall 2021. Hall and showrunner Clyde Phillips are both set to return, picking up where Dexter left off in late 2013.
“Dexteris such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” said Showtime executive Gary Levine in a statement given to press.
“We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”

Showtime anticipates production beginning in early 2021. No word on whether Dexter is still a lumberjack. (Yeah, that's how Dexter ended. Really.)
