Can we just take a moment to appreciate how wellthese gorillas know their angles?Lina Romay
Ndakazi and Ndeze, two orphaned gorillas who were raised at Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, posed for a selfie that went viral over the weekend.
Standing upright behind ranger Mathieu Shamavu, the gorillas served nothing but facefor the camera. That over the shoulder smize! That slight squat, just subtle enough to show off the gorilla's figure! These girls take better selfies than any influencer can.
It's stunning.
In an Instagram post, the national park's official account confirmed that the photo is real and that most primates are actually comfortable walking upright "for short bursts of time."
"Those gorilla gals are always acting cheeky," the caption reads, "so this was the perfect shot of their true personalities!"

But before you get any ideas, the park reminded its followers not to approach wild animals for a selfie — this photo was taken under "exceptional circumstances," and the park rangers take "great care to not put the health of the gorillas in danger."
"We want to emphasize that these gorillas are in an enclosed sanctuary for orphans to which they have lived since infancy," the Instagram caption added. "It is never permitted to approach a gorilla in the wild."
