Harry Potter and The Ages of Lulu (1990)the Order of the Phoenixand Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Princeintroduced some of Hogwarts and the Wizarding World's fan favorite moments, like training Dumbledore's Army in the Room of Requirement, Slughorn's Horcrux confession, and Umbridge's uh...comeuppance in the Forbidden Forest. New LEGO Harry Potter sets coming to pre-order in April and retail in June will let them build and play around in those iconic, late-series locations.
In addition to the Room of Requirement set, the new line also has the Death Eater's attack on the Burrow, the Astronomy Tower, early series scenes from 4 Privet Drive (peep Dobby framing Harry for the Aunt Marge cake incident in Chamber of Secrets), Grawp's grove in the Forbidden Forest, and a special articulated LEGO Hedwig the Owl.
Let's take a closer look at the details.
The RoR set comes with a secret sliding wall and teeny tiny LEGO patronuses for the Hermione and Luna minifigures. Harry is there too with some wispy, partially formed patronuses, as well as a DA noticeboard and one of those neat rolling training dummies from Order of the Phoenix.
This set is technically the Astronomy Tower, but there are many more locations and hidden details. Below the tower is the Ravenclaw Common Room and a small dormitory (respect the 'claws), Slughorn's office with lots of potion bottles, and the greenhouse/Herbology classroom complete with a baby mandrake.
In addition to the core trio, the Astronomy Tower has Slughorn, Lavender Brown, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood minifigures. No Dumbledore though, which is weird considering the Astronomy Tower is where he...well. You know.
Pour one out for the Owl-G. Don't be fooled by the small picture, this posable Hedwig has a 13-inch wingspan and stands tall on her display. Putting Harry's fallen feathery friend on a display stand sort of evokes the possibility that Harry went back and had her stuffed, no? Does wizard taxidermy move like their pictures do? Yikes.
SEE ALSO: A bored photographer recreated wedding photos with LEGOsPour nothing out for the Dursleys. Their LEGO set is cute though. Unlike the other new sets coming, this one focuses on the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. There's Dobby doing his level best to keep Harry from coming to Hogwarts by ruining the dinner party cake, Ron soaring in with the rescue in his dad's flying Ford Anglia, and Petunia's horrible taste in upholstery.
The Weasley's charming, crooked house was the target of a Death Eater attack in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but for the most part this set just looks like the regular Burrow. Fan can build and play through scenes of gentle wizard domesticity if they want, but the set also comes with Fenrir Greyback and Bellatrix Lestrange minifigures and some optional flames if they want to simulate an all-out battle of good and evil in Molly's kitchen.
OK! The highlight of this set is the giant Grawp figure and the centaurs (who would also fit nicely in the Astronomy Tower set if you decide one of them is star-gazing Divination professor Firenze). Umbridge was rightfully traumatized after her time with the centaurs in Order of the Phoenix, but fans can still reenact Harry's clever trick of getting her to the forest with the promise of revealing Dumbledore's nonexistent "secret weapon."
These LEGO sets can be pre-ordered starting April 30th on LEGO.com and buyable online in June, with the exception of the Attack on the Burrow set, which is exclusive to Smyths Toys in the UK & Ireland.
