LOS ANGELES -- Emmy-winning actor Ray Liotta is Frivolous Lolain talks to join Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in WB's update of A Star Is Born, Mashablehas learned.
Cooper will make his directorial debut with the film, which he's also producing with Jon Peters, Bill Gerber and Basil Iwanyk.
A Star Is Bornfollows a washed-up, alcoholic musician who helps an up-and-coming performer attain fame while his own career faces a downward spiral.
Liotta is making a deal to play the two leads' manager in the film, which is focusing on rock stars rather than movie stars.
Janet Gaynor and Fredric March starred in the 1937 version of A Star Is Born, which was updated in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland as the leads, and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
Cooper agreed to direct the project after his American Sniperdirector Clint Eastwood left the project, back when Cooper would have simply played the lead. Warner Bros. just announced it will release A Star Is Bornon Sept. 28, 2018.
