LONDON -- Richard Hammond has come under fire for saying that he doesn't eat ice cream because he's straight.

During Episode 6 of The Grand Tour, Jeremy Clarkson said that wouldn't be able to "enjoy a chocolate Magnum ice cream" inside a Rolls Royce. Richard Hammond responded by saying that he doesn't eat ice cream.

"It's something to do with being straight," he added.

Jeremy Clarkson: "The only problem is that in one of those [a Rolls Royce] you couldn't enjoy a chocolate Magnum ice cream."

Richard Hammond: "It's alright, I don't eat ice cream. It's something to do with being straight."

[Clarkson and May look confused. Some laughter and applause from audience.]

Hammond: "What? What?"

Clarkson [To audience]: "Why are you applauding him?" [To Hammond]: "What do you mean? Are you saying everyone who likes ice..."

Hammond: "Ice cream is a bit, you know..."

Clarkson: "So you're saying all children are homosexual?"

[Audience laugh.]

Hammond: "No, but... There's nothing wrong with it, but a grown man eating an ice cream, you know, it's a bit... it's that way rather than that way... it is--"

Clarkson: "Welcome to the inside of Richard Hammond's head."

Hammond: "I'm right! I can't believe you can't see that. It's easy, it's in front of you."

Clarkson: "You could enjoy a 99 in there."

Hammond: "You mean a 69."

Clarkson: "No, not... a ninety-nine. But you couldn't have the chocolate thingy."

Hammond: "My case rests!"

Clarkson: "No, the chocolate thing!"

Hammond: "Exactly!"

Clarkson: "You know what I mean."

Hammond's comments made many people furious.

Others took to Twitter to mock him.

This man, meanwhile, sent 11 tweets to Richard Hammond explaining exactly why the comments were offensive.
