iOS users991 Archivesnow ask Siri to read them their latest WhatsApp messages, Macrumors reports.
Last year WhatsApp added support for Siri with the ability to send messages and place WhatsApp calls. Users can say "Hey Siri, text Bob on WhatsApp." The new feature adds support for reading messages as well. Users can say "Hey Siri, read me my last few messages" to hear their recent messages. If the integration is not already set up, Siri will guide users towards authorizing it to send and read WhatsApp messages.
The latest WhatsApp update on iOS enables the feature for users running iOS 10.3 and above. Other changes in this update include a simplified UI for two-step verification, group info, contact info and calls. The Facebook-owned app has been slowly adding features to make itself a powerful contender for a universal messaging app.
The Siri integrations make it more appealing to Apple users, for whom iMessage is the primary messaging app. Though the app already has a billion users, over the last few months WhatsApp has added a number of new features to reposition itself as a cool messaging app. Like all of Facebook's apps, WhatsApp added a "stories" feature called Status, payments, revoking sent messages, live location and a new way to let your contacts know you've changed your number.
