Wonder Womanis the most anticipated movie of summer 2017 -- so much so,Action Archives that it's outpacing where Captain America: The First Avengerwas at this point in the sales cycle, according to an annual survey by Fandango.
The online ticket-seller says it counted more than 10,000 online votes from April 27 to May 19, the largest response in its 17 years. Fans are asked to pick the one movie they were most looking forward to seeing, and it was Wonder Womanin a rout.
SEE ALSO: The first 'Wonder Woman' reactions hit Twitter and wow, just wowFandango doesn't release the raw numbers, but here's how this year's crop ranked:
1. Wonder Woman2. Spider-Man: Homecoming3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales4. The Dark Tower5. Dunkirk6. Despicable Me 37. War For The Planet of the Apes8. Transformers: The Last Knight9. The Mummy10. Baywatch
Between the hot social media reactions and now this, it's starting to look like those earliest box-office predictions -- which put Wonder Womanon par with Captain America: The First Avengerand Thorat around $65 million domestic -- might have been a little soft. (I picked Wonder Womanto hit $110 million, and stand by that number.)
We'll find out when Wonder Womanhits theaters on June 2.
